I've already purchased Fox Contact 2. Do I have to buy Fox Contact 3?

It depends on you.
You bought Fox Contact 2.x, which is designed for Joomla 2.x, and is not obsolete. It is still for sale, and will be supported with regular and free updates and fixes until December 2014 and beyond. If you website is still running Joomla 2.5, which is the current Long Term Support Joomla release, then Fox Contact 2 is exactly what you need.

Glossary: "Updates" means newer releases of the same software major version you are currently using. They include mainly bug and security fixes.

If you plan to upgrade your website to Joomla 3, you need to purchase Fox Contact 3 which is rather different from Fox contact 2 and which offers innovative features, such as (but not limited to) jQuery and Twitter bootstrap frameworks, hence you are not buying another time the same product.

Glossary: "Upgrades" means newer major version which replaces the old one and contains enhancements, characteristics improvements, new features and other changes which break compatibility with the previous version.

An example. You bought a ring to your wife, but after your divorce and your second marriage, the jeweler doesn't provide for free a new ring for your new wife. Isn't it true? :)

Jokes apart, I hope you understand what I mean. I decided to benefit from such Joomla 3 specific features despite it meaning losing backward compatibility. I want, on the other hand, continue supporting Fox Contact 2 on Joomla 2.5, hence I decided to handle them separately.
Of course it requires to double my efforts, but it allows me to write the best code for each specific platform without compromises.

For how long should I expect to receive free updates?

Free updates of our products are granted for 12 months after your purchase.

How can I download updates?

Download the most recent installation package through your personal download link, which is the URL you used the first time you downloaded the component. It always points to the latest release.
