Why this extension has a backlink?
Backlinks increase the popularity of this project and the probability that I continue to improve it. I think this is an advantage for all the community.

Legal note
This is free software, released under GNU/GPL 3 License, which means that you can use it for both commercial and non-commercial purposes, but you are required the "preservation of specified reasonable legal notices or author attributions in that material or in the Appropriate Legal Notices displayed by works containing it" (see section 7/b of GPL 3 license ).

How to remove it
Some people asked on this forum the permission to remove the link, mostly for the following reasons:
  • Webmasters and business organization
  • Security paranoid (they don't like that it shows it's a joomla component which may attract hackers attentions)
Usually they offer to support this extension with a payment instead of showing the "powered by fox contact" brand and I consider it acceptable, and it helps me sustaining development and hosting costs.
You can use your "registered version" of Fox Contact on an unlimited number of domains, forever.

Purchase a registered version using the "Buy now" button in the upper-right corner of the download page .

If you don't receive an email with the download link in a few minutes after the payment process, please follow the instructions at the bottom of this page. I will process the delivery manually so please have a little patience.

Updates
Have I to pay for every update?
No, updates are included for the whole current branch life cycle (2.0.x). Use your download link to obtain updates, it always points to the latest version.

Limitations
Can I install it on several websites?
Sure, you have the right to install your registered copy of Fox Contact on unlimited number of websites, without limitations. I'm glad if you find it useful.

The only reason I want to remove it is cause I don't like that it shows It's a joomla component which makes it like bait for hackers... But I'm willing to donate money to be able to remove it.. which constitutes the ability of removing the link under GPL

I am also willing to remove the backlink for same reason as Chad; and I also would like to make a donation in order to be able to do so.

You've made a brilliant form here! Very easy to configure and works like a dream. I will definitely send a donation 1. because I would buy this without hesitation anyway. and 2. being it's a client site that cannot have any branding on it (due to government constraints I need to have the backlink removed BUT I will use it on other installs that are not so sensitive and will add a backlink on my own site blog (not a joomla site but still a backlink. I could easily remove it my self, but I'm not about ripping off the hard work of developers like you as I used to develop myself!

It's always possible to remove the backlink using [...].

As Fox explained the reasons he add this link, and i am agree with him, the project is licensed "GPL Free Software". Think that those donations he will receive just paid the website (hosting).

I don't write publicly howto modify style...

Thanks to Fox to develop this module.
